As a UniFi Protect Installer, you will specialize in deploying state-of-the-art video surveillance solutions using Ubiquiti's UniFi Protect ecosystem. You'll help businesses and homeowners achieve comprehensive security coverage through professional-grade camera systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

Security Assessment: Conduct detailed site evaluations to identify security vulnerabilities and determine optimal camera placement. Consider factors such as lighting conditions, coverage angles, potential blind spots, and client-specific security concerns.

System Design: Create comprehensive surveillance plans that maximize coverage while respecting privacy considerations. Specify appropriate camera models (G4 Bullet, G4 Dome, G4 Pro, G5 series) based on environmental conditions and client requirements.

Professional Installation: Mount and install cameras in various environments including indoor, outdoor, and challenging locations. Run and terminate Cat6 cabling to PoE switches, ensuring clean and professional cable management that meets industry standards.

NVR Configuration: Set up and configure UniFi Network Video Recorders (NVRs) or Cloud Keys for video storage and management. Configure recording schedules, motion detection zones, smart detection features, and retention policies.

Advanced Features: Implement UniFi Protect's advanced capabilities including smart detection for people, vehicles, and packages. Configure alerts, notifications, and integrate with UniFi Access where applicable.

Client Onboarding: Train clients on using the UniFi Protect mobile app and web interface. Demonstrate playback features, export capabilities, and alert management. Ensure clients are comfortable managing their surveillance system independently.

Maintenance & Support: Perform routine system health checks, firmware updates, and preventive maintenance. Troubleshoot issues related to camera connectivity, video quality, and storage management.

Requirements

  • Experience with IP camera systems, preferably UniFi Protect
  • Understanding of video surveillance best practices and camera placement strategies
  • Knowledge of PoE networking and Cat6 cabling requirements
  • Familiarity with NVR configuration and video storage management
  • Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions for outdoor installations
  • Strong attention to detail for optimal camera positioning
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Low voltage or security system certifications are a plus
