Project Manager

New York City, NY Operations Full-Time

About This Role

Read the full job description below to understand the responsibilities, day-to-day expectations, and what makes this position a great fit for the right candidate.

As a Project Manager at UniFi Nerds, you will own multi-site UniFi deployments from the moment a contract is signed until the client signs off. You'll be the person who keeps crews, materials, clients, and timelines aligned — and the person clients call when they want a straight answer.

Your responsibilities will include:

Project Planning & Scoping: Translate the sales scope into an executable plan. Break the work into phases, define deliverables per site, and identify the dependencies that actually drive the schedule — electrical readiness, network cutover windows, building access, and long-lead hardware. Produce realistic timelines that account for how sites behave in practice, not just on paper.

Crew Coordination & Scheduling: Assign technicians and contractors based on skill, location, and availability, then keep the schedule alive as reality changes. Balance multiple concurrent projects, resolve conflicts before they cost a day, and make sure every crew arrives knowing exactly what they are doing and what "done" looks like.

Client Communication: Be the single point of contact through the engagement. Run kickoff calls, send progress updates people actually read, and raise problems early with a proposed solution attached. Manage scope changes formally so both sides know what changed, what it costs, and how the date moves.

Budget & Procurement: Track labour and materials against budget, order Ubiquiti hardware and low-voltage supplies with lead times in mind, and keep an eye on margin as the job evolves. Flag overruns while they are still small enough to fix.

Quality Assurance & Site Visits: Walk sites during and after installation. Verify cable management, labelling, mounting, and configuration against our standards before the client ever sees it. Build and close punch lists so handover is clean rather than a negotiation.

Documentation & Closeout: Ensure every project leaves behind accurate network diagrams, device inventories, credentials handover, and as-built documentation. Run client training or coordinate it, confirm sign-off, and capture what should be done differently next time.

Team Development: Mentor technicians moving toward lead roles. Give feedback that is specific and useful, share what you have learned about running sites well, and help raise the standard of everyone you work with.

This position is ideal for organised, calm people who enjoy holding many moving parts together — and who would rather prevent a problem quietly than be praised for solving it loudly.
